Reporting to the Dean of the Library and Learning Commons (LLC), the Director of the Tutoring and Academic Support Center (TASC) serves as a member of the LLC leadership team and ensures the effective delivery of all tutoring services provided by the TASC. The incumbent works to develop and implement programs to achieve ongoing TASC developmental goals, including programs designed specifically to provide support for students through a Learning Commons model. The Director's responsibilities include developing and maintaining inter-departmental networks across the college to identify and address areas of need; recruiting, hiring, training, and supervising tutors; overseeing that coverage needs are met for course-specific and course-embedded tutoring; providing professional development opportunities for tutors by assisting in the development and assessment of course content; developing assessment strategies to evaluate tutoring services, and overseeing the TASC budget.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Provide leadership for, and oversee, the daily operations of the TASC.
- Hire, train and supervise full-time TASC staff; supervise peer and professional tutors, and supplemental instructors, which includes hiring, training, supervision and payroll.
- Integrate inclusion and equity-focused principles and practices and ensure a welcoming and inclusive environment exists within tutoring program.
- Direct and oversee TASC services, which include in-person and virtual individual and group tutoring, and creating a Supplemental Instruction program.
- Collaborate with institutional partners to design, implement, and evaluate academic support efforts based on national standards and practices that explore student centered and student driven success.
- Collaborate with the Dean on creating and maintaining the operational budget.
- Provide and identify professional development opportunities for tutors, ranging from peer to professional tutors.
- Maintain strong and sound working relationships with faculty and instructors.
- Develop regular assessments of services, including establishing outcomes, data collection, analysis, and reporting.
- Utilize technology to enhance the delivery of programs.
- Manage and assess TutorTrac for tutoring referrals, scheduling, statistics, and tutoring records.
- Other duties as assigned.
Job Requirements:
- Master's degree and at least three (3) years of full-time experience in a higher education setting supporting student academic success.
- Experience supervising full-time staff and developing and managing large programs.
- Effective written and interpersonal communication and collaboration skills.
- Demonstrated commitment to equity and inclusion
Additional Information:
Salary Range: $100,000-$116,000. Non-Unit Professional position. Full State Benefits. Actual Salary Will Be Commensurate With Education and Experience
